Profile

I work mostly with automation, and my approach is to "automate everything that can be automated". When the right tool does not exist yet, I build it. When an existing tool does not quite fit, I improve it.

In the enterprise world, my main platform is mainframe z/OS. I work on infrastructure automation and monitoring, and connect z/OS with the rest of IT, such as Azure DevOps and ServiceNow.

Outside of the enterprise, I have run Linux services (Debian, NixOS) for small teams for several years: Git forges, CI/CD pipelines, authentication, networking and more.

Because I work in both worlds, I like to bring modern practices to the mainframe. I encourage people to use newer technologies such as Python, Git, VS Code or Ansible with z/OS where they make sense. I already use them in my own work, and they make it faster and more reliable.

I work on the planning as well as the delivery. I lead brainstorming sessions to find the best-fitting solution, then work out how to implement and integrate it.

Experience

Senior Lead, System Administration · Kyndryl Hungary

– Present · 3 yrs 2 mos

I support and develop automation for ABN AMRO Bank through Kyndryl Hungary. My focus is still automation, but it now covers business applications as well as infrastructure.

I work with Kyndryl teams in Hungary, the Netherlands and India, and directly with the customer, to build well-integrated end-to-end solutions.

  • Support IBM Z System Automation and NetView, with hundreds of automation solutions written in Rexx.
  • Provide basic support for z/OS Connect, WebSphere Liberty, Java/Semeru, Python for z/OS, Z Open Automation Utilities and Open Enterprise Foundation.
  • Work with the IMS, Db2, MQ, z/OS, Storage, RACF, hardware and network teams, and with the customer's SMEs, so solutions fit the customer's environment.
  • Built a fully automated mainframe CyberVault workflow from scratch, cutting preparation time from 3 workdays to 2 hours.
  • Modernize mainframe alerting together with the ServiceNow teams.

System Programmer for z/OS Automation · Kyndryl Hungary

– · 2 yrs 1 mo

At Kyndryl, I continued supporting mainframe automation for the same customers in the Nordics and Western Europe.

My scope grew beyond automation into infrastructure projects.

  • Took part in infrastructure projects: z/OS and MVS changes, LPAR provisioning and storage automation.
  • Built a panel-based 3270 application that fully automates the maintenance of the automation products.
  • Continued product maintenance and Rexx automation development.

System Programmer for z/OS Automation · IBM

– · 5 yrs 4 mos

I supported mainframe automation products for customers in Finland, Denmark, Sweden, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Belgium and Germany.

  • Maintained several automation products across multiple customer environments.
  • Wrote hundreds of Rexx automation solutions for real operational problems.
  • Migrated customers from CA OPS/MVS to IBM Z System Automation and NetView.
